•Reverse engineering is a complex process essential to vulnerability detection.•Compiler optimizations such as inlining make the task of reverse engineering significantly harder.•Functions from library template classes, such as the methods from the classes vector and map, are the best candidate for inlining.•Automatic recognition of inline library functions simplifies the reverse engineering task since the analyst has suggestions on the code semantics.
