Long-term outcomes of intraoperatively-placed applicator brachytherapy for rapid completion of breast conserving treatment: An analysis of a prospective registry data

•Long-term outcomes after intraoperatively placed applicator-based brachytherapy (ABB) were evaluated in patients with early-stage breast cancer.•5-year ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence rate was 7.8% with a 5.3-year median follow-up.•Menopause, non-obesity, and endocrine therapy (ET) adherence predicted favorable local control.•Our results highlight the importance of multidisciplinary counseling with careful patient selection and encouragement of ET compliance.
