Mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in the neuropathology of bipolar disorder (BD). Circulating cell-free mitochondrial DNA (ccf-mtDNA) is a measurement of mitochondrial health. No studies have investigated ccf-mtDNA in relation to brain structure among youth with BD.
