A comparison of cardiovascular and pulmonary morbidities and risk factors in breast cancer survivors compared to an age-matched female control group in the Lifelines prospective population cohort

•Breast cancer (BC) survivors had less hypertension and lower Framingham risk scores compared to age-matched controls.•BC survivors also had more events of heart failure, conduction disorders and reduced pulmonary capacity.•Despite a more favourable cardiovascular risk profile, BC survivors are at risk of late treatment-related toxicities.
