Leveraging Brain Circuit Function Across Multiple Large Datasets to Identify Mood Disorders Subtypes Which Map to Symptoms, Cognition and Treatment Outcomes

There is a need for novel markers that reflect the pathophysiological processes underlying mood disorders and provide clinically actionable insights. Previously, we have developed and validated a pipeline to quantify subject-level dysfunction of six brain circuits implicated in depression and anxiety using functional magnetic resonance imaging. Here, we show that measures of circuit dysfunction distinguish subtypes of individuals with different symptoms, cognitive deficits, and treatment response.
