•CEA has developed a preliminary electronuclear system for space.•The system is designed to produce 10 kWe during 10 years.•A UO2 HALEU fuel core with thermal spectrum has been selected.•Heat pipes operating with NaK cool the core and the radiator.•SiGe thermal-electrical converters have hot and cold temperatures of 950 and 700 K.•The whole system weights about 2 tons and is 5 m high and cope with Ariane 6.
