摘要
This paper presents an approach to correcting scissor bite in an adult patient. It was managed without requiring a comprehensive orthodontic approach or invasive procedures. A modified transpalatal arch and a cantilever spring were used to correct the scissor bite. A biomechanical approach with this modified appliance produced a consistent force system generating desirable tooth movement while maintaining arch form and omitting the need for full arch bonding. The cantilever spring produced a desired oblique line of force and was reactivated every 6 weeks or as desired to correct the scissor bite. The total duration of treatment was 6 months.
