•Hemp filled bricks effective thermal conductivity determined equal to 0.28 W/m K.•Moroccan thermal regulation is respected only by 12 and 16-holed hemp filled bricks.•Annual heating and cooling loads are reduced from 73.92 to 27.19 kWh/m2 year.•Hemp filled bricks insulation technique led to a cost saving of 73.80 $/m2.•Annual GHG emissions are mitigated by a percentage of 74.39%.
