KANSEI Informatics and Music Technology in AI Era.

“KANSEI” is a Japanese word to express some subjective concept like “sensibility”, “sensuality” or “emotion”. It is also used as “sense” or “feeling”. These words often appear when we talk about the artistic human activities including music. Music has grammatical structure and musical sound is characterized physically, which makes music suitable for modern computer technology. At the same time, music has an illogical or KANSEI aspect like the other arts. This paper first describes the trend of modern technology and the concept of KANSEI Informatics. Then the author’s observations on recent and future AI in relation to music technology in AI era are introduced.
