Unbiased individual unconsciousness: Rationale, replication and developing applications

•Unbiased individual unconsciousness enables a researcher to apply subjective thresholds for backward masking.•It utilizes Bayesian analysis to explore the durations that provide evidence for chance-level perceptual performance.•Psychophysiological and self-report responses to these individually adjusted thresholds are measured.•Following the demand for the replication parameters of this method, we present in this manuscript a dedicated review.
