摘要
Professional advancement programs, also known as career or clinical ladders, have proliferated for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) and physician assistants (PAs) and recognize clinical and/or professional contributions within clinical agencies. Although the literature is rich in describing the benefits of these programs on job satisfaction and staff retention, there is a dearth of literature on the effect of these programs on clinical practice, institutions, and the respective professions. This article quantifies the impact on the institution and profession of APRNs and PAs who have been promoted through an institution's career ladder.
