An official digital currency proposal in the brazilian scenario: a CBDC prototype

Trade was common way before the invention of physical coins and commercial exchanges as we know them today. Coin manufacturing was based on rudimentary processes that required intense labor and skill from the professionals involved. The development of trade -and the increasing usage of money that it has demanded -took coins manufacturing processes to another level. In addition to physical currency, the technological evolution used in the most varied scenarios of brazilian daily life is undeniable, especially when it comes to the diversification of payment methods and financial transactions. Seeking a better understanding of the current scenario, some factors of direct influence on the theme is addressed, as the factors that influence the demand for physical money, the main payment methods accepted by the market and how the country is structured regarding internet coverage. Through a detailed descriptive survey of the problem addressed, a proposal for the implementation of brazil's digital currency-the digital real-is structured. The importance of the development of new payment methods is highlighted-without forgetting about the ones that already exist, however.
