Performance analysis of an integrated biomass-to-energy system based on gasification and pyrolysis

•A novel integrated biomass-to-energy system based on gasification and pyrolysis is designed.•Herbaceous and woody biomass are gasified and pyrolyzed respectively.•Herbaceous biomass energy is converted into electricity via biomass gasification.•Woody biomass energy is converted into H2 via biomass pyrolysis and steam reforming.•High efficiency, short DPP and high NPV of the novel system can be achieved.
