摘要

•Phosphate is removed by ZVI through adsorption and subsequent precipitation.•When phosphate is treated with ZVI under aerobic conditions, H2Fe(II)P2O7 is formed.•Iron oxide, ferric ions, and others on ZVI inhibit the formation of vivianite.•Phosphate is removed by ZVI mainly through precipitation under aerobic conditions.
