The debate in the diagnosis of coeliac disease - time to go 'no-biopsy'?

Duodenal biopsies remain an important step in the diagnosis of adult coeliac disease. However, an alternative approach that removes the necessity for biopsies may be an option in selected adults. If further guidelines incorporate this pathway, then efforts should focus on supporting a dialogue between primary and secondary care to facilitate the appropriate implementation of this approach.
