A novel classification method combining phase-field and DNN.

•A data classification method which combines phase-field with DNN is proposed.•A MNIST digital database is adopted as the experimental subjects.•The tolerance value is set to judge whether the output value in DNN is abnormal.•The proposed method performs excellent in both binary and multi-classification.•The proposed method performs better than single DNN model or phase-field model.
