Organosilanes/Silicon-Based Nanocomposites as Corrosion Inhibitors

Basically, this modern era is involved with the kind of research which is more focused towards environmental safety. Losses due to corrosion are somehow contributing around 3-5% of a developed country’s gross domestic product and among the numerous approaches employed to prevent corrosion; utilization of silane-based layers are considered of utmost priority due to their least toxicity and more of good adhesive properties. This chapter highlights the involvement of organosilanes based corrosion inhibitors employed for range of metallic counterparts like steel, copper, magnesium and zinc, etc. In addition to this; the basic mechanism associated with corrosion inhibition along with structural properties have also been elaborated.
