摘要
Abstract Determining emerging trends of different psychiatric disorders among patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection and subsequent hospitalization by psychiatric disorder history is important to guide targeted public health priorities. This study used electronic health records among patients in New York derived from the largest health information exchange in the US and estimated the prevalence of psychiatric between March 2020 to August 2021. During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, mood disorders were the most prevalent among hospitalized COVID-19 patients, whereas substance use disorders increased significantly among patients without prior psychiatric diseases. Mood disorders, anxiety disorders and psychosis increased by 488.0% (from 2.5–14.7%), 373.2% (from 2.6–12.3%) 232.4% (from 3.7–12.3%) from February to August 2021 among COVID-19 negative patients. This study is the first to address the differential trends in psychiatric disorders over COVID-19 pandemic. Tailored treatment and policies should be developed that account for psychiatry history.
