Peptidomic approach for analysis of bioactive peptides

Analysis of bioactive peptides is a very complex process and there is not any specific technique. Peptidomic describes the systematic, comprehensive, qualitative, and quantitative analysis of all peptides and small proteins of a given biological system at a defined point of time. It represents peptide proteomics and serves as a complementary strategy to bridge the gap between proteomics and metabolomics. The best strategy for the analysis of bioactive peptides is the combination of the use of bioinformatic (or in silico) tools and analytical techniques. Throughout this chapter, a description of the analytical and bioinformatic methods used for bioactive peptides analysis will be done.
