Study on Friction Stir Welding and Heat Treatment of 7050 Aluminum Alloy

Friction stir welding and heat treatment of 3 mm, 13 mm and 20 mm thick T7451 7050 aluminum alloy were carried out in the study, To study the influence of welding parameters and heat treatment on weld performance under different thickness. The results showed that the mechanical properties of the weld were decreased with the increase of the thickness, the rotational speed and weld speed were gradually reduced, the tensile strength of weld exceeded 80% of the base metal, but the elongation fell about 50%; With T74 heat treatment after welding, the tensile strength of weld increased by over 12%, the elongation significantly declined with the increase of the thickness.
