Late-Onset Mood Disorders

Abstract The history of the International Classification of Diseases [ICD] and the history of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual [DSM] is reviewed including the present status of both as to the recognition of Late-Onset Depression. Opportunities and challenges to increasing the recognition of Late-Onset Depression in DSMs and ICDs are described, targeting DSM-5, ICD-10-CM or ICD-11.
