Synthesis of Multifunctional C4h Octa-substituted Phthalocyanines

The selective synthesis of multiply functionalized phthalocyanines (Pcs) as single regioisomers remains challenging. We report our approach for the selective synthesis of C4h Pcs bearing different α- and β-substituents. These C4h phthalocyanines demonstrate a more general route to octa-substituted Pcs with both function and controlled symmetry.
