Colorectal cancerColorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer worldwide. Its pathogenesis is very complex and is still under study. The involvement of the intestinal microbiota has been known for many years, in particular, in the elderly subject who is more exposed to factors determining the prevalence of pathogenic and carcinogenic bacterial and fungal species than the young and the adult. These include diet, medications, lifestyle habits, hospitalization, etc. An intestinal dysbiosisDysbiosis is thus established which can favor inflammationInflammation, the breakdown of tight junctions, and an abnormal immune response that favor the genesis and proliferation of CRCColorectal cancer.
