摘要
Abstract Although not at the forefront of the public imagination, workplace injuries and fatalities remain a daily reality in many workplaces across the world, a concern made worse with more than three thousand health care workers who died from COVID-19 during the first year of the pandemic. There is very little research to guide a discussion on the benefits that might accrue when workplace safety is assured. In sharp contrast, we know that workplace attitudes and employee well-being suffer following safety infractions. Special features of this chapter include a discussion of the extensive financial costs borne by injured workers, their families, and their organizations following workplace injuries and fatalities; and a consideration the disproportionate safety risks faced by foreign correspondents and young workers.
