Resource utilization of thermosetting plastics in supercritical water

For research, this chapter selects two typical thermosetting plastics, urea–formaldehyde plastics and waste circuit boards. A series of experiments were carried out in supercritical water (SCW) to obtain hydrogen-rich syngas products. The effects of different operating parameters, such as temperature, reaction time, raw material concentration, pressure, etc., on conversion were investigated. A kinetic model was established, and key parameters, such as activation energy and preexponential factor, were dealt with. The feasibility of SCW gasification of thermosetting plastics was verified to provide an experimental basis and data reference for industrial utilization of waste plastics treatment technology with SCW.
