Electric Bus Energy Management and Routing Scheduling Considering Timetable Constraints

Electric Buses (EBs), as promising tools in urban public transportation, have been widely developed in recent years. This research mainly focuses on the energy management in the station and routing scheduling of EBs, i.e., the charging and discharging power are optimized based on real-time price when EBs are in the station, and the route lines are selected when EBs are on the road. Meanwhile, the transit information of EBs needs to satisfy the timetable. The objective is to minimize the total charging fee of EBs, including charging cost and discharging income. Case studies verified the proposed strategy, that is the total charging fee is reduced by 27% and 50.5% under charging– only and V2G modes, respectively. The proposed strategy can identify the charging load in each station, which could provide a reference in charging station planning in the future.
