Methods of Toxicological Analysis

Toxicological analysis, be it forensic, clinical, environmental, workplace, drug abuse, or doping control, principally involves the measurement of chemical substances potentially harmful to living organisms. Chemical analysis is used to detect the presence of these substances, measure their concentrations, and interpret this with respect to their relative toxicity. This article provides an overview of the methods applied to toxicological analysis, from screening to confirmatory analysis, including discussion of sample selection and preparation.
