Thyroid Differentiation Scores (TDS, eTDS) in Radioiodine Resistant (RAIR) Papillary Thyroid Cancer (PTC) Patients

BRAF- and RAS-guided re-sensitization therapy of RAIR thyroid cancer distant metastasis (TCDM) currently leads to re-induction of RAI uptake in 50-60% of patients. There is an unmet need for better early identification of RAIR risk to increase re-sensitization success. We assessed the hypothesis that The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) TDS (Agrawal et al, 2014) and the enhanced TDS (eTDS) (Dunn et al,2019) comprising mRNA expression of 16 and 48 thyroid-specific differentiation associated genes, respectively, of primary tumors could identify patients who later developed RAIR.
