Increased Exacerbation Burden in Allergic Polysensitized Patients with Moderate to Severe Asthma

Using a machine learning algorithm, we recently reported allergic poly-sensitization (APS) clusters based on ImmunoCAP® results as a newly recognized severity marker in adult urban asthmatics. APS clusters, based on numbers of positive allergen sensitizations and allergen-specific IgE levels can predict pulmonary function decline, total IgE levels and eosinophilia. Also, we found “superclusters” (cluster groupings) that tracked patients with either predominately seasonal or perennial allergen sensitizations.
