Use of Theory-Based Implementation Research to Evaluate Barriers and Facilitators to Implementation of a Novel Digital Inhaler Technology in Clinical Practice

Digital inhalers can offer opportunities such as increased flexibility and access to help optimize patient care; however, evidence on how to implement this technology into complex healthcare environments is poorly reported and categorized. Theoretical frameworks, such as the consolidated framework for implementation research (CFIR), can be used to guide research to understand how digital inhaler technology is implemented in clinical practice.
