摘要
Abstract During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the Jurassic Coast of England attracted a number of gifted scientists, and they were often based in either Lyme Regis or Charmouth. They made very detailed and significant contributions to our understanding of the Lias and to other parts of the Jurassic. Notable figures who studied the Lias included Muriel Arber, William Dickson Lang, Leonard Spath, and Edward Day, while William Fitton, Joseph Prestwich, Osmond Fisher, Sydney Buckman, and Michael House worked on other aspects of Jurassic history. Muriel Arber also did work on the landslips and mudflows at Axmouth, Black Ven, and Stonebarrow.
