摘要
Thermoluminescence dosimetry (TLD) is a significant method for concentrating on the elements of electron trapping centers. TL materials display a wide scope for researchers in various fields, for example, personal dosimetry, environmental dosimetry, medical research, and so on. In this chapter, we have discussed about phosphate materials and their use in the field of TL dosimeter application. Among TLD materials, phosphate has opened a new door in radiation dosimetry. In the recent few years, rare earth activated phosphate phosphors were synthesized by various synthesis methods such as solid‐state reaction, simple and solution combustion, sol gel, wet chemical method, and hydrothermal method. Recent years, researchers have developed various rare earth activated phosphate samples and investigated their TL properties by irritating various ions and rays like O6+, C6+, Li+, Cs ions, electrons, neutrons, γ-rays, β-rays, X-rays, etc. In this chapter, we have discussed basic information of thermoluminescence (TL), rare earth ions, TLDs, etc. In addition, we have reviewed phosphate phosphors and highlighted their potential as future TLDs applications.
