Humidity suppression in Bi2O3/SWCNT nanohybrid structures for room temperature acetone detection

In this research, a simple chemical procedure was employed for the formation of Bi2O3 nanoparticles/SWCNT nanohybrids to construct an acetone gas sensor that can tolerate the effect of humidity at room temperature. The morphological structure properties of the Bi2O3/SWCNT nanohybrids were analyzed with X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and other surface area measurements. The humidity effect was investigated and carefully analyzed at room temperature (25 °C) through resistance and conductivity measurements. The nanohybrids displayed a stable and linear response toward acetone under conditions of increasing humidity (from 0 to 90%) and demonstrated better linearity in acetone response than pure Bi2O3 and pure SWCNTs.
