Structural Characterization of Zinc(II) and Cadmium(II) Coordination Polymers Composed of Bis(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone and 1,3-Adamantanedicarboxylate Ligands

Two coordination polymers, [L1Zn(adc)]2⋅5H2On (1), [L1Cd(adc)]2⋅2.75H2On (2) (L1 = bis(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone, H2adc = adamantane-1,3-dicarboxylic acid) were synthesized under solvothermal conditions. They were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. In compound 1 (or 2), metal ions are linked by L1 and adamantane-1,3-dicarboxylate ligands with the formation of chains of two kinds in the [1 1̅ 0] and [110] directions, respectively.
