Pericardial disease

Abstract Pericardial diseases are often assessed by echocardiography and/or cardiac magnetic resonance. Cardiac CT offers a useful alternative to both techniques, with isotropic spatial and good temporal resolution, which allows for comprehensive assessment of the pericardial anatomy and characterization of different pericardial lesions. Knowledge of the normal pericardial anatomy, anatomical variants, and the CT appearances of different pericardial conditions is crucial for proper diagnosis and treatment.
