Sudden onset of complete ophthalmoplegia and blindness after resection of large frontal convexity meningioma: Case report

•Sudden blindness after resection of frontal convexity meningioma is arare but possible complication.•Physiological venous drainage from orbit can be altered in case of the long-lasting presence of intracranial expansive pathology.•Careful preoperative review of MRI and CT scan in “routinely” looking frontal convexity meningioma may reveal possible alternative venous drainage pathways „standing in way“ of standard resection.
