Staphylococcus aureus toxicity

Staphylococcus aureus is part of the normal human flora, which is capable of causing infectious diseases, from mild to complicated infections, thus becoming a public health problem. The pathogenicity of this bacterium is determined by the host response to virulence factors. In this article we aim to address all aspects of S. aureus toxicity, including sources of exposure to the bacterium, mechanisms of toxicity, food poisoning and other forms of pathogenesis. Knowledge of these aspects leads to an understanding of the resistance of the bacterium, the host immune response and the creation of possible strategies for control and eradication of the infection.
