摘要
To effectively manage decarbonization strategies across the supply chain and track progress to 2050 climate goals, there must be transparency in greenhouse gas accounting practices and climate data. In this case, transparency not only means information sharing between or among supply chain participants, but it also means annual public disclosure of climate impacts. In this chapter, we explore the ways in which transparency and collaboration on supply chains emissions accounting can advance progress towards achieving climate goals. Numerous levers within supply chains support transparency, including the availability and ease of methods and standards for assessing emissions, data collection, information sharing, and technologies available to supply chain members, and the reporting, disclosure, and verification mechanisms that ensure accurate reporting. In addition, we introduce the current state of affairs, summarize key issue areas, and explore strategies to enable companies to monitor and reach climate goals in collaboration with their supply chain.
