A Closer Look at Instructional Design

This chapter will discuss the importance of instructional design. Though instructional design is a defined field, the nuances of what instructional designers do is not fully understood. There are many names which are applied to designers (instructional designer, learning designer, information architects, etc.), and there are even more definitions of what instructional design is. This chapter will explore these diversities in greater detail, therefore setting the stage for the rest of the text.
