Transtorno do espectro do autismo (TEA): caracterização, diagnóstico e intervenção

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder with manifestation in the early stages of development, characterized by atypical development and behaviors, deficits in social communication and interaction and impact in the adaptive functioning of this population. Identification of developmental delays, proper diagnosis, referral to behavioral interventions and early educational support can lead to better long-term behavioral learning outcomes considering brain neuroplasticity. This material was developed as part of the Mackenzie Presbyterian University winter course and aims to provide an overview of characteristics, diagnosis and intervention, based on the literature on ASD.
