摘要
Rapid growth in the demand for energy worldwide has led to serious ecological contamination and energy shortages throughout the world. Accordingly, renewable energy configurations, such as photovoltaic devices, could be considered as potential alternatives to polluting fossil fuels due to their interesting advantages and greenness. However, traditional photovoltaic devices are not flexible and require high development expenses, highlighting the requirement for alternative solar cells with reasonable power conversion efficiency (PCE) and low cost. Correspondingly, polymeric solar cells (PSCs) are considered ideal alternatives to traditional configurations due to their flexibility, mechanical robustness, low cost, and ease of processing. However, PSCs suffer from low PCE, short life service, and poor stability, highlighting the demand for developing novel polymer donor/acceptor layers to minimize their losses and improve their performance. In this chapter, potential one-dimensional polymeric platforms for PSCs were reported, and their capabilities were evaluated through an in-depth detailed assessment.
