Performance Analysis in Rugby

Performance analysis can be used to objectively audit and describe the behaviours of rugby players and teams during different facets of training and match-play, providing additional information for coaches and players to improve future performance. This chapter explores the various key themes relating to performance analysis in both codes of rugby, including performance indicators, performance profiling, and technique analysis. The authors also identify emerging areas of interest pertinent to rugby, such as momentum, dynamical systems theory, perturbations, and the application of player tracking data.
