摘要
Child Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) measures and their value sets use varying methods for eliciting and modelling values for child HRQoL and resulting value sets have different characteristics (Kwon et al 2022). Poor and/or incomplete reporting was found in papers valuing paediatric HRQoL (Bailey et al 2022). Checklists play an important role in improving reporting standards and in helping users to interpret and assess available values. Existing checklists for HRQoL utilities focus on valuation of adult HRQoL instruments, lacking items on issues specific to valuing child HRQoL. We aimed to develop a checklist for studies generating values for child HRQoL. The checklist could be applied to values used in cost effectiveness models of paediatric interventions directly elicited for disease-specific states or vignettes as well as those from value sets for childhood PROMs. A conceptual model was developed to provide a modular structure for the checklist. Modules were grouped by methods (A-D) and values (E). We extracted a longlist of potential items from a review of checklists for adult HRQoL values (Zoratti et al 2021) and added additional items specific to child HRQoL values extracted from recent reviews of the methods literature. The long list of items was reduced by eliminating duplication and overlap and refined to strengthen relevance and clarity through an iterative process. The resulting checklist contains modules aimed at reporting methods (A-D) and the characteristics of values (E), with a total of 81 items. Its application to a selection of papers reporting child HRQoL value suggests it is feasible to use. The checklist could improve completeness in reporting paediatric values and help users compare and assess the characteristics of available value sets. A consultative process to finalise the checklist is planned.
