Current Issues and Future Research Directions in Sport Science: A Roundtable Discussion

Although the sport science field has grown recently, it is important to identify its perceived issues and provide different research directions to advance the field. Whether individuals have been in the sport science field for an extended period or just entering the field, information that can benefit the profession is highly sought after. This roundtable was designed to identify current issues within the sport science field and provide recommendations for future sport science research. The group of panelists discussed the biggest issues facing sport science, future research that will benefit the sport science field, how technology has affected both research and the application of performance data, untapped areas for continued growth in the sport science field, and the gaps that currently exist in sport science education.
