摘要
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which usually affects the lungs and can lead to death. Treating the infection provides a cure for TB, but involves the use of multiple drugs. In this context, the pharmacist is a health professional with skills and abilities to monitor patients with this disease to optimize their treatment. Given this, the present review aimed to gather articles that address the pharmacotherapeutic follow-up of a person with TB. This integrative review was conducted using descriptors for tuberculosis and pharmacotherapeutic follow-up in a bibliographic search executed in PubMed and Lilacs. Six studies were included, which elucidated the pharmacotherapeutic follow-up service for people with TB, carried out in different practice settings and nationalities. It was possible to observe that patients monitored by this service obtained improvements related to treatment, which have been verified by obtaining the positive clinical impact of the service, guaranteeing the effectiveness and safety of the medications used by patients, and, consequently, adherence to therapy. Therefore, offering this service straight improves the effectiveness and adherence to treatment by people with TB.
