Microplastics degradation stimulated by in-situ bioelectric field in agricultural soils

•Mass loss of PVC, PE and PLA was accelerated in the soil bioelectric field.•The addition of PLA and PE promoted the charge generation of system.•The surface charge transfer affected the chemical stability of microplastics.•Bioelectric fields stimulated the plastic-degrading bacteria in plasticsphere.
