摘要
This study evaluates the mechanical properties of beryllide (Be12Ti) fabricated using plasma sintering for addition to the Be12Ti material database for DEMO design. To investigate the effect of sintering temperature on the density, hardness, and tensile strength of Be12Ti, plasma sintering was performed at various temperatures. In our previous study, we reported the effects of sintering temperature (up to 1050 degrees C) and pressure on hardness and sintered density. Herein, we evaluated beryllides with high sintered densities sintered at 1100, 1200, and 1300 degrees C. The sintered density measured by hydrostatic weighing increased by approximately 5% from 1050 to 1300 degrees C. The sintered density for 1300 degrees C was approximately 2.288 g/cm3. Hardness increased gradually, then appeared to become saturated after 1050 degrees C. Tensile tests were performed at room temperature with the samples sintered at 1050, 1100, and 1200 degrees C and at 320 and 640 degrees C with the samples sintered at 1200 degrees C.
