Integration of Bias Consciousness in Advanced Pharmacology for Nurse Practitioner Students

Bias can impact prescribing. Nurse practitioner students can benefit from enhanced bias content in advanced pharmacology courses. A presurveyepostsurvey examined student improvement in 5 key areas over a se -mester of enhanced bias content. The average assessment score significantly improved 6% from pre-intervention (mean, 60.89; SD, 9.5) to postintervention (mean, 66.73; SD, 13.70; t43 = 2.52, P = .008, d = 0.38). Bias persisted in identifying incorrect statements specific to depressive disorders during pregnancy. Treat-ment for depressive disorders during pregnancy is a knowledge gap for a cohort of novice nurse practitioner prescribers.(c) 2023 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
