Performance Verification of 7,424 x 7,424 Optical Switch Offering 1.4 s Switching Time

We experimentally verify performance of 7,424x7,424 optical switches that offer 1.4-mu s switching time. Two key enablers are reported; newly developed polarization-insensitive 64 x 1 silicon-photonic switches integrated with wavelength-tunable filters, and a fast burst-mode coherent receiver.
