Laser beam welding is one of the widely used precise, accurate, and highly developed modern welding techniques among the family of various welding techniques available in the modern days. A variety of materials including metals and non-metals can be fabricated adopting the laser welding technique. The process is suitable for both similar and dissimilar work pieces. Over the years, various research works aim to modernize the welding process over traditional processes of welding. LBW has its applications in many fields of engineering such as the aerospace industry, bio-medical industry, electronic industry, and automotive industry. Numerous research works have been carried out on different aspects of the LBW process. The present work is focused to investigate the basics of LBW that have been adopted by automotive sectors, as well as its future scope. The present study also aims to unveil the detailed applications of LBW in the automotive industry.
